Cypress Introduces New TrueTouch Capacitive Touch Sensing Solution for Large Screen HMI Systems

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 16, 2015 – Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: CY) today introduced a new line of automotive capacitive touch screen controllers that support up to 15 inches The touch screen delivers industry-leading performance in harsh automotive environments. The new AutomoTIve TrueTouch® CYAT8168X controller uses Cypress's proprietary AutoArmorTM technology to protect the device from the strong electromagnetic interference (EMI) emitted by cars, buses and trucks. The controller guarantees a perfect user experience even in the presence of water droplets, condensation or sweat on the touch screen. In addition, the controller features industry-leading gloved finger tracking capabilities so drivers can operate the touch screen without removing gloves.

Cypress Introduces New TrueTouch Capacitive Touch Sensing Solution for Large Screen HMI Systems

Cypress AutoArmor meets a number of challenging electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards for automotive manufacturers, including chip-level electromagnetic emission standards (IEC 61967), conducted immunity standards (IEC 62132), and radiation immunity standards. (ISO 11452) and system level immunity specifications (CISPR 25). AutoArmor uses automatic frequency hopping technology to prevent false touches caused by electromagnetic interference from other electronic systems and to reduce electromagnetic radiation by up to 30% using TX frequency extension. In addition to proprietary AutoArmor technology, the AutomoTIve TrueTouch CYAT8168X controller also provides up to 88 I/Os via I2C or SPI with a host processor interface to increase touchscreen sensitivity.

Dr. Mu Jing, Senior Marketing Director of Cypress Automotive HMI Marketing, said: "With the introduction of the AutomoTIve TrueTouch CYAT8168X touchscreen controller family, Cypress offers customers the best solution for harsh automotive environments. Bringing the perfect user experience to the driver. Our new in-vehicle touch screen controller with powerful anti-electromagnetic interference, waterproof and gloved finger tracking capabilities fully demonstrates Cypress's commitment to continuously expand its automotive portfolio for the next generation. The car offers solutions with world-class performance and functionality."

The AutomoTIve TrueTouch CYAT8168X controller family offers the industry's best precision and linearity, supporting different sizes of fingers and gloves of different materials and thicknesses, including ski gloves. In addition, the controller series automatically switches between glove and finger modes without the need for the driver to manually switch settings. This series of products uses Cypress's patented DualSenseTM technology to perform self-capacitance and mutual capacitance measurements in the same device, enabling the industry's best water and wet finger tracking performance under realistic conditions, including touch screens. There are water droplets, condensation or sweat on it. The controller is based on a 32-bit ARM® Cortex® M-Core processor known for its high efficiency MIPS/mW. The unique features of TrueTouch products are derived from the world's more than 100 patented capacitive touch sensing patent portfolios.

Availability

The Automotive TrueTouch CYAT8168X controller is currently in the sample stage, and the full-featured automotive products with AEC-Q100 are expected to be in volume production in the first quarter of 2016. The package is available in 128-pin and 100-pin TQFP for automotive systems.

Heat Sink is a kind of heat dissipation device which is easy to heat down electronic components in electrical appliances. Most of them are made of aluminum alloy, brass or bronze, sheet shape, multi-sheet and so on. In general, the heat sink should be coated with heat conduction silicone grease on the contact surface between the electronic element and the heat sink, so that the heat emitted by the components can be transmitted to the heat sink more effectively and then distributed into the surrounding air through the heat sink.
