IKEA stated that it will be the first US furniture retailer to sell only energy-saving LED lamps, which will improve the surrounding environment of the city to some extent. At present, the high price of LED lamps compared to traditional incandescent lamps is the main reason that hinders the widespread adoption of this product. However, IKEA stated that the company will sell its own LED lighting products to consumers at the best price. It is reported that the cheapest IKEA LED bulbs currently cost about 9.99 US dollars.

Although the Swedish furniture retailer has always been known for its low price, flat packaging, and detachable furniture, the company’s strategy in the transition to LED lightbulbs shows that the company is also very concerned about the lifespan of furniture products. IKEA stated that, theoretically, the lifetime of an LED bulb can reach 20 years, and LED bulbs consume 85% less energy than incandescent bulbs. At present, the lifespan can reach this level. I am afraid that only Philip LED bulbs are produced, but its price of 20-60 US dollars has made many consumers discourage.

Now, we do not know what kind of price positioning IKEA will give to LED light bulbs, but it is also likely that many of the consumers will not accept the cheaper “selling LED lighting products to consumers at the best price”.
