Arrow's technological innovation in the field of Intelligent Systems

Arrow's SAM project recently won the 2014 Engineering and Technology Society Award in London, England. The SAM (Semi-Autonomous Motorcar) project is an innovative project in which the 2014 Corvette C7 STIngray model has been modified with integrated advanced electronics and man-machine interface, so the limbs with professional racer qualificationsç˜«ç—ªThe driver can safely operate under runway conditions.

CBS Television also reported on this innovative project in the recent "Courage in Sports" section. The SAM project is a collaborative project between Arrow, Ball Aerospace & Technologies, the US Air Force Research Laboratory, Schmidt-Pitson Racing and the Falc Adaptive Vehicles (AdapTIve Motorsports).

On May 18, 2014, former IndyCar Racing driver Sam Schmidt drove the car for the first time in fourteen years. He ran a lap at 107 mph in front of thousands of spectators at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and millions of TV viewers.

However, this is not a story about racing, but a story about how we can use innovative interconnect technologies to help people solve their problems. The SAM project aims to eliminate the physical limitations of disability and help a driver with a disability but a professional racer to regain independence and a sense of accomplishment. This technology breaks the barriers and opens up new experiences and emotional spaces for people with disabilities, allowing all of us to dominate the driving force of our own lives.
