MAX97220 DirectDrive Line Driver / Headphone Amplifier

The MAX97220 is a differential input DirectDrive® line driver / headphone amplifier. This device is capable of driving 1kΩ with 5V power supply, 600V load with 2VRMS voltage and 3.3V and 3VRMS line horizontal load capacity. A headset with a load of 32Ω was driven into the power supply of 125MW unit at 5V. The integrated circuit adopts an internal fixed 6dB gain or an external resistor to set the gain externally. The external gain setting node can also be used to configure set-top box application filters. The IC has full audio bandwidth at special THD + N.

Two versions of the integrated circuit are available with different on-times (tons). The earphones use the 5.5ms tons featured in the A and C versions, while the B and D versions are equipped with 130ms tons for set-top box applications. The on-chip charge pump reverses the power input and establishes a negative power rail. The power supply of the output stage of the amplifier is active between the input and the output of the charge pump.
