Academician Liu Yunjie: be alert to the overheating momentum of the Chinese Internet of Things

In response to the vigorous development of the Internet of Things in China, Liu Yunjie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, warned on December 9 that the hype about the Internet of Things was "too much".

In the past two years, many places in the country have been striving to enter the field of Internet of Things. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities nationwide that regard the Internet of Things as one of the key development points of emerging industries.

"I personally think that the Internet of Things should focus on solving the challenges encountered in national economy and people's livelihood and social development. It is of little significance to leave the above requirements and simply chase profits or blindly follow suit." Liu Yunjie said bluntly.

In fact, Liu Yunjie is not the first expert to express concern about the overheating of the Internet of Things. At the China International Internet of Things (Sensor Network) Expo held last month, the chief scientist of the National 973 Program Internet of Things and dean of the Wuxi Institute of Internet of Things Liu Haitao expressed concern about the current situation that some provinces are too blind to deploy the Internet of Things and most of the projects are "buried" by the government.

"At present, the Internet of Things has become a big basket, and everything is installed inside." Liu Haitao said that such disorderly development has become an urgent problem to be solved in the development of China's Internet of Things industry.

At the "Future Electronic Technology Development and Science and Technology Talent Training Summit Forum" held on the 9th, Liu Yunjie expounded her understanding of the development of the Internet of Things. As an important founder of CHINANET, Liu Yunjie was selected as one of the 50 digital heroes in the world by Time Magazine.

Liu Yunjie believes that the current vigorous development of the Internet of Things has a lot to do with the financial crisis in the past. It is precisely because of the lack of early warning before the crisis that people want to collect a variety of information through the Internet of Things more extensively, more deeply, and more systematically Make more accurate judgments and warn about possible crises.

In recent years, the United States, the European Union, etc. have all invested heavily in research into the Internet of Things. Industry insiders predict that the global Internet of Things industry market will show rapid growth in the next five years, and will be close to US $ 350 billion in 2015, with an average annual growth rate close to 25%. By 2015, China's Internet of Things industry will achieve a scale of more than 500 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of about 11%.

Liu Yunjie said that the primary challenge facing the current Internet of Things is the lack of advanced technology, materials and solutions.
