The "Dji phenomenon" has become a special case in the industry. In the second half of this year, its new product, Mavic, folding UAV is a heavyweight in the industry.

The billion-dollar cake is not enough to compare with the 3C market. The huge imagination space and the flying fun that is close to the sky still attract new troops. Perhaps in the eyes of most people, the industry has always lacked a second place in the true sense, because the disparity with the first is too great. However, for Dajiang, this well-defined market is far from calm and stable.

The so-called high ground is not overwhelming, in order to "delay the day when the drone bonus disappeared," and constantly overthrow their own borders, actually every step is like walking on thin ice.

One, Mavic and Phantom contest

In September, Zhi Zhi has already written “The Dajiang suppresses the helpless drone forces to jump into another sea of ​​blood”. It focused on the investigation and analysis of the emerging trend of small drones this year, combining product analogy and industry interviews. The three major pain points faced by the current small drones are: not safe enough, cheap enough, and not practical enough.

So did Davic's MavicPro launched this week to fill the industry's three shortcomings? We will elaborate on it later. From the standpoint of Daji’s own product line, Mavic seems to have more significant meaning. Some people call it “kill Elf 4”.

From the perspective of functional parameters and intelligent solutions, MavicPro and Phantom4 officially launched in March of this year all share the same features. Mavic also has slightly better details. Combined with a lower price and more portable folding design, the original P4 audience is entirely likely to give up the former and move to Mavic's market. Specifically, it includes the following three aspects:

1) In terms of basic performance parameters, Mavic is basically the same as Genie 4. Mavic and Elves 4 both use a 350mm wheelbase, camera resolution is 12.4 million effective pixels, and the battery life is 27 minutes. Both are equipped with a three-axis mechanical anti-shake head.

In addition, the latest obstacle avoidance system adopted on Elvish 4 was also transplanted to Mavic, including front-view binocular obstacle avoidance, binocular optical current positioning and ultrasonic configuration.

It is noteworthy that the machine vision technology used by Elven 4 and Mavic is also provided by the American startup Movidius, and Intel has recently announced the acquisition of Movidius. However, the MavicPro part of the advanced flight function code is still written by DJI.

2) In terms of mechanical structure, Maivc's design is more compact and the system integration is higher. Mavic has an overall size of 83*83*198 cm and a weight of 743 grams after folding, which is almost half the weight of the 1380 grams of the Elf 4. In addition, the folding remote control after slimming is also almost half of the Elf's 4 remote control. The carrying and usage scenarios are greatly enhanced.

3) In terms of handling experience, Mavic made many details improvements. Mavic's newly adopted OcuSync graphics transmission system has increased the distance of image transmission to 7 km. After the optimization of the Lightbridge system used by Elven 4, the maximum distance was 5 km. It needs to be emphasized that the farther distance of image transmission means higher battery power consumption, while Mavic not only achieves farther image transmission, but also nearly doubles its battery power consumption compared to Genie 4.

In addition, due to the use of dual GPS modules, Mavic's air suspension, automatic route, automatic return and other point control are more accurate. In the PTZ platform, due to the use of a dwarf frame for the folding structure, the protective cover introduced to prevent the lower impact of the landing point can also protect the PTZ camera to some extent. The small-sized drones that were introduced before this time all use the built-in camera structure. The camera rotation angle and the angle of view are very limited. By contrast, the exposed compact platform and camera Mavic uses are adventurous on the premise of a folded structure.

The rise of small drones can not be separated from the self-timer boom. Later, Dajiang showed a deeper product understanding on Mavic, gestures to start self-portraits, 90-degree vertical shooting mode and other functions are more natural than the mobile phone. Of course, the combination of the Goggle's first angle of field + passing machine movement model will also attract a group of heavy players for Mavic.
