Sandy Bridge Pentium performance first exposure

On May 22, Intel will release the first batch of three Pentium processors based on the new Sandy Bridge architecture. The performance of a Pentium G620 was first exposed today.

Sandy Bridge Pentium is naturally manufactured in 32nm process, LGA1155 package interface, but the specifications are greatly simplified, leaving only two core and 3MB L3 cache, and does not support Hyper-Threading, Turbo Boost dynamic acceleration technology. Specific models are Pentium G620, Pentium G840, Pentium G850, clocked at 2.6GHz, 2.8GHz, 2.9GHz, integrated graphics core HD Graphics 2000, frequency 850-1100MHz, thermal design power 65W, thousands of wholesale price of 64 US dollars, 75 USD, 86 US dollars.

Later Intel will also introduce a low-power version of the Pentium G620T, clocked down to 2.2GHz, graphics core frequency is reduced to 650-1100MHz, thermal design power 35W, the price is unknown.

These new Pentiums will replace the 32nm/LGA1156 Pentium G6960 and the 45nm/LGA775 Pentium E6700/E5800.

The performance of the Pentium G620 exposed this time comes from the official Intel documentation. The test items are HDXPRT 2009 that can fully evaluate the performance of processor audio and video processing. Because of the propaganda factors, the results here may be different from the actual test and are for reference only.

The first comparison is the Celeron Celeron E3400, the same dual-core dual-thread, the same 2.6GHz frequency, 1MB secondary cache. The Pentium G620 clearly outperformed, leading 26-74%.

Then compare the Sandy Bridge architecture Core i3-2100, dual-core four threads, clocked at 3.1GHz, three-level cache 3MB. The Pentium G620 is naturally no good for it, being 17-35% ahead.

Finally, the upgraded Core i3-2105, which will also be released on May 22, is expected to increase to 3.2 GHz, and it can also lead the Pentium G620 significantly, with a 3DMark Vantage score of up to 62%.
