China Telecom recently launched a tender for "Procurement of 240V DC Power Equipment in 2013". The purchase includes 34 sets of 240V DC power supply equipment (400A and below) and 111 sets of 240V DC power supply equipment (400A and above).
The equipment purchased this time will be used for various projects of China Telecom Group Corporation, China Telecom Corporation Limited and its subsidiaries and branches in 2013. As early as 2007, China Telecom began to promote and apply 240V HVDC (high voltage direct current) technology. After extensive experimentation, China Telecom has issued two documents from the group level in 2010 and 2011, requesting provinces to promote the application of high-voltage DC power supply. Since then, high-voltage DC power supply has also occupied an important position in China Telecom's power supply product procurement in 2012 and 2013.
Today, high-voltage DC power supplies are gradually replacing the traditional UPS as the mainstream. For China Telecom, the reliability of DC power supply is higher than that of traditional AC UPS power supply. The parallel rectifier module and battery pack of its power supply system all form a redundant relationship, and the unreliability is the result of the multiplication of each component, and the overall reliability is higher than that of a single component.
The high-voltage DC power supply HVDC has the characteristics of high reliability, high efficiency and low cost, and is expected to completely replace the traditional UPS. The HVDC project selects domestic advanced EMI test system and RF conducted immunity test equipment to promote the industrialization of high-voltage DC power supply system and the serialized research and development of high-power DC power supply system. At present, UPS is widely used in communication, data business and modern information service business. HVDC is similar to the principle of electric power operation. It can replace UPS uninterruptible power supply and save more electricity than UPS. Conducive to maintenance and other characteristics. It is a general trend for HVDC to replace UPS in the data business field. The three major domestic telecom operators will gradually adopt HVDC to replace UPS.
