Audi's new technology car will be able to generate electricity

Nowadays, the new technologies and new inventions of the automobile industry can be changed with each passing day. According to the foreign media Digital Trends report, Audi has already made use of the system that uses the car's shock absorbers to generate electricity. This prototype system is named eROT and it can work with a 48V onboard power supply system. Audi said that this energy recovery suspension system can provide additional electric energy for the vehicle and increase the suspension's adjustability.

In the eROT system, Audi uses a special lever arm to collect the kinetic energy generated by the jounce of the car suspension. Afterwards, the transmission device introduces kinetic energy into the motor and eventually generates electricity from the motor. Audi said that the system was able to generate 100-150 watts per mile on average in Germany, benefitting from this, and that the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by vehicles was also reduced by 4.8 g. In future mass production models, the electrical energy generated by the eROT system will be used for various on-board electrical appliances, which not only reduces the burden on the engine, increases the energy utilization efficiency, but also reduces the fuel consumption to some extent.

In addition to fuel economy, Audi also stated that eROT systems have better adjustability than traditional suspensions. As a more advanced suspension system, eROT can independently adjust the compression ratio and rebound rate of the shock absorber. In the premise of ensuring stability, it not only takes care of the driver's sense of control, but also takes into account the passenger's comfort.

Analysts believe that with the increase in the number of vehicle-mounted appliances in the future, the automobile can make full use of various additional energy in addition to the main energy, which will be a very promising technology area.

At present, Audi has not announced mass production plans for the eROT system.
