ADI: The application of wireless connectivity in the industrial Internet of Things and its technological innovations

The concept of "Industry 4.0" initiated by Germany has gradually developed fever around the world. In the Industry 4.0 architecture, various wireless communication technologies will complement the industrial Ethernet network. With the development of network communication technology in recent years, industrial control has been gradually optimized. Network communication technology integrates industrial control into a system to achieve its intelligence. It is predicted that by 2020, more than 50 billion devices will be networked in the world.

Zhang Peng, ADI marketing manager, said that the very hot concept of Internet of Things in recent years is a concrete manifestation of industrial control intelligence. In the field of industrial IoT technology, the development of software technology will face enormous technical challenges. Real two-way communication, intelligent sensing and intelligent communication all require high-reliability software to support, and also need to be more targeted for different control objects. Multi-specialized and customized software; in addition, for high-temperature, high-reliability, and devices that require isolation for industrial applications with complex on-site and specific conditions, more new technologies are needed to support them.

ADI has recently introduced the AD9361 wireless transceiver analog front end for the Internet of Things. The AD9361 is a high performance, highly integrated RF Agile TransceiverTM agile transceiver. The device's programmability and wideband capabilities make it ideal for a wide range of transceiver applications. The device combines an RF front-end with a flexible mixed-signal baseband section that integrates a frequency synthesizer to provide a configurable digital interface to the processor, simplifying design entry. Operating over the frequency range of 70 MHz to 6.0 GHz, the AD9361 covers most licensed and unlicensed bands and supports channel bandwidths ranging from less than 200 kHz to 56 MHz. The device can be used in the design of micro base stations such as small cell/Femtocell. Easy to install and debug for factory automation.

ADI's products for intelligent factories are mainly on the industrial group network. ADI can provide a variety of industrial communication protocols from 4 to 20mA, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, LVDS, etc., can support isolation and non-isolation, industrial temperature range, including DC-DC isolated power supply and other technologies; Some support short-range wireless communication technology to provide high-performance RF chips covering different frequency bands; in addition, for industrial Ethernet technology, ADI is also considered in new processors. These chips bring great convenience to industrial networking. For example, ADM2582/2587—integrated RS-485 interface chip with isolated power supply, ADM3052/3053—CAN interface chip with isolated power supply, etc. can be easily used in industrial networks.

ADI's WSN (Wireless Sensor Node) solution is aimed at wireless network solutions for intelligent buildings. The Aducrf101 is a single-chip solution that combines the ARMCortrex M3 processor with RF. The solution supports a variety of wireless network protocols, including ADI's ADRadioNeT and 6LoWPAN, Wireless MBus and WiSun Alliance. In addition to the SoC solution, ADI also offers a range of RF transceiver chips. The RF chips represented by the ADF70xx and ADF72xx support a frequency range from hundreds of megahertz to 2.4G.
